DLD Teen Hope: Transforming Lives, Building Futures

At DLD Teen Hope, we strive to meet the needs of vulnerable adolescents by offering them access to basic education and vocational training. Most of the children we support come from high-risk households, such as single-parent families, blended families, or homes affected by challenges like drug and alcohol addiction, domestic violence, exploitation, or neglect.

Our mission is to give these young individuals the opportunity to find work suited to their personalities, explore diverse career prospects, and avoid lifestyles that harm both their health and society. By addressing each adolescent’s unique challenges, we aim to make a lasting difference in their lives.

Our Key Initiatives

Education

We follow the ANFEN Non-Formal Education Curriculum, which focuses on developing the multiple intelligences of adolescents. This curriculum helps foster skills, knowledge, and creativity in ways that suit their unique strengths and needs.

Health and Nutrition

We believe that a healthy body supports a healthy mind. That’s why we provide daily breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students, ensuring they have the energy and nutrition needed for learning and growth.

Extracurricular Activities

Every semester, students participate in educational outings to explore the island and gain real-world knowledge. They also take part in the annual ANFEN sports day and football tournament, encouraging teamwork and physical wellness.

Employability and Entrepreneurship

Our programs focus on preparing students for the workforce and entrepreneurial ventures.

  • Vocational Training: Since October 2017, we’ve offered classes in baking and pastry-making at our “Ecole de Pâtisserie”, along with training in electrical installation.
  • Partnership with PEJ: Through our collaboration with the Projet Employabilité Jeunes (PEJ) by the Fondation Espoir et Développement of the Beachcomber Group, adolescents aged 17 to 20 are prepared for professional life.
    • Certification and Success Rates:
      • 90% of 16-year-olds who complete the PEJ program improve their employability in the hospitality sector.
      • Students gain an MQA-approved certification, enhancing their credentials in the job market.
      • Many graduates excel in the program, earning evaluations of “Très Bien” (Very Good) or “Excellent” and securing jobs aligned with their training.

Our Impact

The DLD Teen Hope Project is dedicated to empowering adolescents by:

  • Rebuilding their self-esteem and confidence through structured, supportive programs.
  • Providing education, life skills, and vocational training to ensure their long-term success.
  • Creating pathways to employment and entrepreneurship that positively impact their lives and the wider community.

By addressing the needs of each adolescent, DLD Teen Hope continues to transform lives, offering hope, stability, and a brighter future for vulnerable youth.
